Yesterday I was afraid of love
Afraid of life
I did not believe in myself
Or the journey that was given to me
I allowed heartache and strife
To take anchor
And devour me
Today, I chose to view my life differently
and say
The heck with that
No more running from the mirror
No more saying I can’t
No more thinking I’m old
No more denying what He grants
I learned to love me
Learned to be me
Learner to accept me
Learned to be free
I am enjoying this life
And loving me better than anyone else can
Choosing to be the best me
Choosing to believe in me
Along with accepting all the attention
My life is not perfect
But I am perfect in His eyes
I am moving forward
Though I may stumble
Trip and fall
I am happily me
And that’s no lie.
